One sentence

Project Vela puts AI inference on solar arrays in orbit, measured in tokens per solar watt, aiming for the capability to move a majority of future inference off Earth.

About Project Vela (100 words)

Project Vela, the Solar Compute Sail, is an early-stage engineering initiative building solar-powered AI inference for orbit. Instead of launching data centers with heavy cooling loops, Vela puts compute on the solar array itself: each panel collects sunlight, runs models and radiates its own heat to space, with no pumps or fluid loops. Its headline metric is tokens per solar watt across many concurrent models, the agent firehose. The long-term V3 design targets the capability to serve a majority of future inference off Earth. V1 is measured on the bench; V2 and V3 are design targets. Vela-Scout 83 is a proposed rideshare demonstrator, not yet committed.
